Research-led foliar nutrition
Folia+ has been developed around a simple principle: foliar nutrition should do more than place nutrients on the leaf. It should help keep those nutrients available, support efficient uptake and deliver them at the stages when they can have the greatest influence on crop performance.
Our formulations combine premium nutrient sources with BioChelate™ technology—a carefully developed biological base containing naturally derived organic compounds, amino acids, seaweed extracts and beneficial fermentation metabolites.
The science behind BioChelate™
Nutrients applied to leaves must remain soluble and available before they can be absorbed and used by the plant. BioChelate™ formulations are designed to support this process by combining mineral nutrients with biologically derived complexing agents and plant-supporting compounds.
Depending on the product, this approach may help:
- Maintain nutrient availability within the spray solution
- Improve coverage and interaction with the leaf surface
- Support nutrient uptake and movement within the plant
- Reduce the risk of nutrients becoming unavailable through unwanted reactions
- Support plant recovery during periods of rapid growth or environmental stress
BioChelate™ is not a single synthetic chelating agent. It is a complete formulation approach that brings together compatible nutrient sources and biologically derived compounds within a stable liquid system.
Designed for better nutrient delivery
Nutrient availability
Folia+ formulations are designed to help keep nutrients soluble and available for plant uptake.
Leaf interaction
The BioChelate™ base supports effective coverage and interaction between the applied nutrients and the leaf surface.
Targeted application
Products can be selected according to crop growth stage, plant analysis and identified nutrient demand.
Crop performance
Targeted foliar nutrition can support crop establishment, plant vigour, reproductive development, yield and quality.
Developed and manufactured in New Zealand
Folia+ products are developed and manufactured in Christchurch by a team with more than three decades of experience in microbial products, biological fertilisers and fermentation-derived agricultural inputs.
Every formulation is developed with commercial farming conditions in mind—from mixing and spray compatibility through to storage stability and practical application.
From formulation to the field
Step 1: Laboratory development
Nutrient sources and BioChelate™ components are selected and combined to achieve the required nutrient analysis and formulation characteristics.
Step 2: Stability testing
Products are assessed for solubility, pH, specific gravity, sedimentation, storage performance and physical stability.
Step 3: Plant evaluation
Promising formulations progress to plant, glasshouse or small-scale field evaluation to assess crop safety and plant response.
Step 4: Commercial validation
Products are evaluated under practical growing conditions, with results used to refine application rates, timings and crop recommendations.
Our research approach
How are Folia+ products tested?
Development begins with laboratory formulation and stability testing. Suitable products can then progress to plant, glasshouse, replicated field or commercial-scale evaluation.
What does Folia+ measure?
Depending on the trial, measurements may include plant sap or tissue analysis, crop vigour, root development, yield, produce quality and observations of practical spray performance.
Are all evaluations independently conducted?
Some trials may be independently designed or assessed, while others are completed internally or in collaboration with growers and agronomists. The type of evaluation will be clearly identified when results are published.
Why can results vary between crops and seasons?
Foliar response can be influenced affected by crop nutrient status,? Wait typo. Need correct in final.
Foliar response can be affected by crop nutrient status, growth stage, weather, water rate, application timing and other parts of the growing programme. Trial results should therefore be considered alongside local agronomic advice and crop monitoring.
Does foliar nutrition replace soil fertility?
No. Folia+ is designed to complement? Need complete.
No. Folia+ products are intended to complement a sound soil-fertility programme by supplying targeted nutrition at important stages of crop growth.
